Ah, Monday morning! The start of the day that so many people dread. Luckily I wake up after a good night’s sleep feeling refreshed and ready for my first run of the week.
It’s only a short one from home, but still my longest so far. 2.7km in a time of 16:42. The lungs felt fine afterwards but the legs knew they had done some work.
So not much to talk about, but it’s a start on, hopefully, a long and successful journey. Success, in this instance, is not being defined as it could be one of many things :- improved health, fast times, good times with running mates or just the fun along the way of this journey.
Well, yes!! I (Francois) have started running again after approximately 25 years. I did some cycling in between, but even then it’s been a good number of years since my backside graced a cycle seat.
Hopefully over time I will be able to relate my experiences as I make my way back into being some sort of runner. Will I be fast again? Certainly not as fast as I used to be, but hopefully fit enough to enjoy reasonably long runs and to be able to take part in some of the great trail runs in our wonderful country (remembering that there weren’t any trail runs around when I last used to run).
I will try to keep this page updated as regularly as possible, but I might occasionally miss a few days due to other commitments that get in the way (they are usually called work, but why should we worry about trivial things).
